
Culture-Driven Hotel Design: A Case Study of the Sumerion Hotel in Nasiriyah, Iraq
This article details the design and execution of the Sumerion Hotel in Nasiriyah, Iraq, based on cultural studies and user behavior analysis. Instead of following global trends, every design decision in this project—from spatial planning and visual elements to the design of the VIP rooms—was informed by field research, dialogues with local communities, and a deep study of Sumerian history and civilization.
A key research finding was the critical role of VIP rooms in local wedding ceremonies, which led to a more sensory and culturally resonant design for these spaces.
